A Lean management training game played with physical blocks, plus the web application that runs and scores it. Five timed rounds of warehouse logistics, measured on lead time, work in progress and a financial result, so the trainer can teach VSM, 5S and short interval management against numbers the group produced itself. Built together with a training partner.

The challenge

Lean tools taught from slides are forgotten by the next shift. A simulation makes the lesson land, but only if somebody can measure it: without numbers, a round of a blocks game is an anecdote rather than evidence that work in progress was the problem all along.

Our approach

The game itself stays physical: ten workstations, a fixed order register, five rounds. The app is the instrument around it, built in Next.js and TypeScript on Postgres. Orders are timed with start and finish taps, each round closes with an operational and financial result that carries into the next one, and every parameter of the game, the financial model included, is configurable so the same game can be recalibrated for a different group.

The outcome

The game has been run on real corporate training sessions, with each round's dashboard as the starting point for the discussion that follows it.
